Ingredients:
- 250 grams all purpose flour + extra for dusting
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 160 ml lukewarm water
- 3.5 grams yeast (1 tsp)
- ¼ teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Process:
- Combine water, yeast and sugar; set aside for 5-10 minutes to activate.
- Mix together the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Knead for 10-15 minutes to form a smooth and elastic dough.
- Divide into 2 portions and roll into balls. Coat with some oil and place in an oiled bowl or tray. Cover with plastic wrap or a damp kitchen towel.
- Rest for 1 to 2 hours until the dough is double in size.
Assembly
- Preheat your oven, along with a pizza stone or a tray to cook the pizza. Line another flat tray with baking paper and set it aside.
- Tip out the proofed dough onto a well-floured worktop. Begin to stretch out your dough, working from the centre to the edges. Alternatively, you could use a rolling pin.
- Once you have your desired crust (0.5 – 1 cm thickness), transfer it onto the baking paper lined tray. Spread out the dough again if it shrinks a little.
- Dress with tomato sauce, cheese and your favourite toppings.
- Transfer the pizza along with the baking paper onto the hot pizza stone/tray in the oven. Bake at 220°C for about 15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- Slice and serve – enjoy piping hot!
