Your sweet little Sparkle & Spice Kitchen just had a cuuuute little glo-up!
If you're new to this website - hello hello! You can read more by checking out the about section & then drool through the visuals & recipe journal.
If you're an oldie who's been here from the start or joined somewhere along the way - thank you for all your support and kind words. š They keep me going.
This new look was long overdue and I am so excited by how well (and cute!) it turned out. If you're thinking there's some grand 'comeback' planned - I'm going to stop you right there.
This is probably just a small baby step in the grand scheme of things and I have no proper plan as to where I'm heading with this. Just a start that has got me excited enough to write this. *yay!*
So, what's the short term plan exactly? š¤Ø
Well, it's primarily getting this website and blog active. I put way too much effort into making it a few years back and I really feel like I'm ignoring my adorable (figurative) child.
Here's how it's going to go:
āļø I will *try* to post small blogs - maybe weekly, maybe fortnightly
š³ The blogs will be about, honestly, anything and everything food-wise
šÆ Like - what did I cook or eat this week?
š Or a food memory that makes me all š„ŗ / š¤¤
š Some YouTube recos for sure
šš¼ And also some good podcast recos (v excited about this)
All in all, I think this is going to be pretty fun. There may be (read: will be) long gaps, but I promise I will try to be as frequent as possible. š¤š¼
So, that pretty much covers it. To kick off things here's a little glimpse behind the thought process for the new logo.
Sparkle & Spice 2.0
Firstly, a few moments of loving silence for the OG S&S logo (2014-2020).
You were a beauty, a start of something new and you served us well. šø
I will always remember you.
With the new logo, I wanted it to be cute and quirky and very on-brand.
I also wanted it to have some subtle references & homage to its predecessor.
Knowing me, there are probably two things that are straight-up on-brand - eggs š³ and cookies šŖ.
Through the process of elimination, cookies got ruled out because it was tricky to have the name stand out on that particular background.
When you try to visualise an egg, a sunny side up is likely what materialises in your head - a bright yellow yolk & a cloud-like white around it.
Given my love for eggs, (I wrote two entire blogs on them. Click on the pictures above to check them out!) I knew I had to design something around it. Hence, the simple idea - why not just stick the name on the yolk and call it a logo.
Well, that was basically it. š
I picked a cute font (Nicklainey), followed by some fine-tuning to make it look quirky and finished it up with a š to hint back to the original S&S logo.
Now, this left me with yellow becoming my new theme colour and I couldn't have picked a better one consciously.
Reasons for yellow feeling like the perfect pick:
Eggs. Golden eggs yolks. Duh!
My new found love for the colour ever since dodie yellow
It's just so warm and nice and feel-good š„°
In the end, I was sitting there all heart-eyes at my computer screen, looking at my new creation and thinking this definitely feels like a good start.
So, here's to that and some fun stuff coming your way soon! š„³
